A Peek at Hawthorne’s 4th Annual Leadership Conference…

  |     |   2013

Wow…time flies and Hawthorne’s 4th Annual Leadership Conference has already come and gone.  Three days filled with top-notch education and professional development as well as lots of time catching up with old friends and making new ones.

The theme of this conference was “Soar High” which challenges each and every member of the company to soar above the fray that occurs daily – to always do the right thing for our customers, teammates, and investors.  It is a great reminder to hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards at all times.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of this year’s phenomenal conference…

Kick-Off With Our Fearless Leaders – excellent presentations were given by Hawthorne’s senior leaders Sam, Ed, and Phil detailing Hawthorne’s growth over the past years and upcoming growth in 2013.  Sam detailed many awesome new projects being rolled out in the coming months including an HRP iPhone App, 401K Company Matching Program, transition from Maintenance to Resident Services, and so much more!

Star Search Competition – wow, we have got some shining stars within Hawthorne who really know how to put on a show.  Highlight of the Star Search was winner Adam Smith’s region’s excellent remix of Kenny Chesney’s “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” that turned into “She Thinks My Golf Cart’s Sexy” – complete with a large cardboard cut-out of a golf cart driven by the one and only Jim Sweet of Park West!

Day Two of the leadership conference featured a slew of great presentations from Amy Small’s High Finance class with the Community Managers to Stuart Gohd (Goose) and Matt Hensel’s (Maverick) fun and informative Top Gun Leadership course for the Resident Services Supervisors.

And then it was time for the Annual Awards Banquet – a beautiful banquet where we celebrate the year’s successes and recognize the Rising Stars within Hawthorne. Many Congratulations to this year’s winners, a few of which were:

Live It! Awards:  Plantation at Horse Pen Creek, Hawthorne at Bridford, Summerwood, Allandale Falls, and Calibre Chase

2012 Lowest Controllable Expense per Unit: The Ledford at $2,076.26 per unit

2012 Highest Total Revenue Compared to Budget: Bent Tree at 7.8% compared to budget

2012 Highest Net Controllable Income Compared to Budget: Spanish Oaks at 9.87% compared to budget

Leadership conference wrapped up on day three with a fantastic Trade Show attended by industry vendors.  Many thanks to the support and sponsorship shown by all of the vendors who participated in conference – we truly appreciate your time and support!

Another great conference has passed, and I am so excited to see the many Live It! moments that will be created in the coming year.  See you all next year!
